spolia tarot, jen may and jessa crispin

"the tarot card reader" in opinionator, nyt

jessa crispin is probably one of my favorite living writers. the creative tarot was the first book on tarot i bought, and i don't fully recall how i found either of them. at the time, i was reading blogs like the little red tarot and must have seen a review, and i fell in love with her voice and her lack of bullshit and much of her other writing, especially the dead ladies project and her online work.

the deck is out of print and crispin and jen may advise against sniffing out scalped copies. i just hope everyone finds an essential deck like this. it's the one i come back to over and over again, because i often drift away, preferring astrology to tarot most of the time.
